Machine polisher working a dark panel under LED light

Polishing time

How long does car polishing take? Part of a day to most of one

One stage or two, small car or large SUV: what moves the hours, and the time for your car in writing before we come.

How long does car polishing take?

Car polishing takes part of a day for a single-stage polish and most of a day for multi-stage correction, because the machine goes over every panel once per stage. Our car polishing starts at AED 799 and happens at your address, and the time for your car is written down with the price before anyone drives over.

The honest answer has a range because paint is not uniform. A hatchback with light wash marks and a seven-seat SUV with years of dust scratches are both polishing jobs, and they do not take the same hours. What follows is what moves the clock, so you can read your own car against it.

How much time does each polishing stage add?

A stage is one full pass over the car with a chosen pad and compound. Single-stage is one pass: it clears light swirls and brings the gloss back, and it is the part-of-a-day job. Multi-stage opens with a cutting pass that levels deeper marks, then follows with a refining pass that removes the haze the cutting pass leaves behind.

Each extra stage repeats the whole car, panel by panel, with a pad change and a wipe-down in between. That is why multi-stage is quoted above the single-stage figure and why it runs most of a day. Our guide to single-stage versus multi-stage shows which one paint of your kind needs.

Why does a bigger or older car take longer?

Two things decide it: how much paint there is and how much is wrong with it. A large SUV carries far more paint than a compact, and the roof alone is a job. A car that has been through years of brush washes needs slower, more careful passes than one that has had gentle care.

Dark colours add time for a different reason. Black and navy show every remaining mark under LED light, so the last passes are checked panel by panel before we move on. White paint hides defects, which means less to chase but also less to see.

The wash before the polish counts towards the time

Yes, and it is never skipped. The car gets a proper hand wash and decontamination first, because a machine run over bonded grit grinds it straight into the clear coat. That prep is part of the visit, so the hours you are quoted include it.

Before the full car starts, one test section is polished with the least aggressive pad and compound that might work. You see the result on that panel and approve it, which costs a little time up front and saves a wrong decision on the whole car.

How do you plan the day around a polish?

The van brings its own power, water and lighting, so the work happens beside the car, in a villa driveway, an office car park or a tower basement. You do not hand over the keys for the day and you do not need to be there the whole time. Most people check in once at the test panel and once at the walk-around.

Book the morning for a multi-stage job. It finishes in good light with room to spare, and shade matters more than walls: a covered bay or a shaded spot is better than open ground at midday in a Dubai summer. Short jobs fit evenings, long ones do not.

When you can drive and wash the car again

Straight away. Polish itself has nothing to cure, so the car is usable the moment we pack up. The only wait applies if a sealant or coating goes on top, and then the time before water touches it is told to you before we leave. A gentle hand wash within a day or two keeps dust off paint that now has nothing on it, and our Premium Wash from AED 249 is exactly that.

Does car polishing take less time bundled with other work?

It is the same hours but one visit instead of two. The Full Detail from AED 999 includes a machine polish with the interior programme and runs most of a day. If a ceramic coating is next, the polish is its first step: ceramic coating starts at AED 1,999 and is applied on corrected paint, so the two are planned as one job with one written price.

Before you book

Polishing time, answered

How long does a single-stage polish take?

Part of a day for a standard car in normal condition. The exact time for your car is confirmed in writing on WhatsApp with the price, after we have seen photos of the paint.

How long does multi-stage paint correction take?

Most of a day, because every panel is machined twice with a pad and compound change between rounds. A large SUV or a car with heavy swirl marks sits at the longer end.

Do I need to be home while the car is polished?

No. The van carries its own power, water and lighting. Most owners look in at the test panel and again at the final walk-around.

Can you polish my car in a basement or covered parking?

Yes. A covered bay or a shaded spot works well and is better than open ground in strong sun. Send a photo of where the car is parked and we confirm it.

Can I use the car straight after polishing?

Yes. Polish does not cure. If a sealant or ceramic coating is applied afterwards, we tell you how long to keep water off before we leave.

Will the price change if the job takes longer than quoted?

No. The price is fixed in writing before the visit, and the number does not move at the door.

Send two photos, get the time and the price

Send the bonnet and roof in daylight. The reply gives the stage, the hours and the fixed price in writing.
