Choosing a polish
Compound, pad and machine decide the result more than the brand on the bottle. Our polishing is from AED 799, after we look at your paint.
What is the best car polish on the market?
There is no single best car polish, because the right one depends on how damaged your paint is. A fine finishing polish suits light haze, a cutting compound suits visible swirl marks, and neither works well by hand on a dark car. What separates a good result from a poor one is the match between product, pad and machine. If you would rather not run that experiment on your own bonnet, our machine car polishing starts at AED 799.
Searching for a winner on a ranked list is the usual starting point, and it is the wrong one. Lists compare bottles. Paint does not care about the bottle; it cares about how much material is removed and how evenly. The sections below cover what to look at instead, and where a polish you buy and a polish we apply part ways.
Polishes sit on a scale from cutting to finishing. A cutting compound carries coarse abrasive and levels deeper marks. A finishing polish carries fine abrasive and brings up gloss. Many bottles sold to home users are all-in-one products that sit in the middle and do a modest version of both jobs.
Matching them is simple in principle. Dull paint with no visible lines wants a finishing polish. Fine circular scratches that show in sun want a compound first and a finishing polish after. A scratch that catches a fingernail wants neither, and our guide to what polishing removes explains where the line sits.
Usually, yes. Abrasives only work when they are moved at speed with steady pressure, and a hand cannot hold that over a whole bonnet. Rubbing by hand tends to leave a patchy shine and can add fine lines of its own. A machine with the right pad moves the abrasive evenly, breaks it down as designed and leaves a consistent surface.
That is also why the same polish gives very different results in two sets of hands. The product is the smaller variable.
You can, and for light haze on a car you are not precious about, a finishing polish and a soft pad can improve things. Work in shade on cool paint, in small sections, and wash the car first. Dubai makes this harder than it sounds: in direct sun the product dries before it has worked, and a hot panel gives you a smeared finish rather than a clear one.
Where home polishing goes wrong is the step before it. Polishing over fine dust drags grit across the paint. And a dark car punishes every mistake, because swirls you add yourself are the ones the sun finds first.
We inspect the paint before choosing anything, and tell you if a panel is too thin or resprayed to take correction. Our polishing service runs from single-stage to multi-stage depending on what the inspection shows, with the starting price at AED 799. The product is picked to suit the paint in front of us, not a shelf we happen to stock.
If the inside needs work as well, the Full Detail includes a machine polish within its from AED 999 price, which is often the cheaper way to cover both.
Done by machine on healthy paint, polishing removes a very thin layer and leaves plenty behind. The risk is on thin or repainted panels, and on cars that have been polished hard several times already. That is why the inspection comes first and why we say no to a panel when it will not take it.
Whether it is worth doing at all is a separate question, covered in polishing worth it.
The bottle is the cheap part. What you are paying for in a professional job is the hours of machine work and the skill to judge your paint. Our polishing is from AED 799, and the final price is agreed on WhatsApp after you send photos, before anyone arrives. For a breakdown by service level, see polishing prices.
Polish removes marks; it does not stop new ones. Hand washing, a clean microfibre and no dry wiping of dust keep the finish clear for a long time. If you want protection on top, a ceramic coating from AED 1,999 goes on after paint correction, so the paint is as good as it will get before it is sealed.
Before you buy
Not by itself. A well-made polish helps, but the pad, the machine and the person using them change the result more than the price tag. Match the product to the damage first.
Usually a new car needs a clean and some protection rather than correction. Look at it in direct sun first; if there are no swirls, leave the paint alone. See polishing worth it for the sun test.
By machine for anything beyond light haze. By hand the pressure is uneven and the result is patchy, especially on dark paint.
Our polishing is from AED 799, and the Full Detail from AED 999 includes a machine polish. Send photos on WhatsApp and we confirm the price before we come.
A bonnet and a roof in direct sun is enough. The reply says which service fits and what it costs.
